A joint team of officials from the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department and the Revenue Department conducted a surprise inspection of hotels and bakeries in Ballari, targeting establishments that were operating illegally or preparing unsanitary food. The operation, led by the Assistant Commissioner and Tahsildar who also serve as District Marking Officers for the Food Safety Department, resulted in an on-the-spot fine of Rs 50,000 for two hotels found to be in violation of regulations.

During the inspection of Hotel Mayur, located opposite the old bus stand, officials discovered that the business was operating without a license. The kitchen was found to be severely unhygienic with a lack of proper drainage systems, and staff members were not wearing masks or gloves. Authorities collected eight food samples on the spot and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 while issuing a warning to the management.

At Hotel Renuka Darshini, situated at Durgamma Gudi Chowk, inspectors found that the establishment was trading without a license, using rotten vegetables, and adding color to tea powder. This hotel was also fined Rs 25,000. In contrast, officials praised Renuka Bakery, also located at the same chowk, for maintaining excellent hygiene standards and advised them to continue their current practices. The officials warned that strict legal action would be taken without hesitation against any food establishment found to be involved in adulteration or unsanitary conditions.
