Ballari Corporation Commissioner P.S. Manjunath announced that heavy vehicle movement in the city will be restricted to 11 pm–6 am to prevent accidents, following a recent spike in fatalities. Speaking at the Greater Ballari City Corporation general body meeting on Thursday, Manjunath noted that two people died in a single week due to increased lorry traffic. The decision follows a meeting led by the District Police Commissioner, and the District Collector is expected to issue an official order within days.

The meeting, presided over by Mayor P. Gadeppa, also addressed housing benefits for SC, ST, and OBC beneficiaries, with the Commissioner promising installment-based fund releases. Additionally, proposals were tabled for the management of a Material Recovery Facility and the maintenance of a shelter home for the homeless, while members raised concerns over poor road conditions and departmental coordination. A proposal to allocate ₹75 lakh for feeding 326 stray dogs in the 2026-27 fiscal year was also submitted, as the meeting began an hour late due to the absence of several key officers and MLAs.
